Ask the Sign

Terms of Service

Last updated October 28, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Unit Sphere Labs LLC ("we") for the Ask the Sign service at askthesign.com, tap.askthesign.com, mcp.askthesign.com and console.askthesign.com (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you use the Service for a business, you agree for that business and confirm you can bind it.

1. The Service

Ask the Sign lets a customer who has checked in at a participating place ask their own AI assistant (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Muse) about that place's items, stock, where things are, and policies. In these terms, a "place" is a store, restaurant, hotel, venue or other business that uses Ask the Sign. Business owners supply the place's information and can see how customers' questions are answered. Ask the Sign looks information up; it doesn't run the conversation, which happens in the customer's assistant.

4. Data and license

5. Acceptable use

Don't: break the law; upload data you don't have the right to share; upload malicious files; try to access another place's data or bypass the visit limit; scrape, reverse-engineer or overload the Service; send spam or unwanted texts; impersonate a business or person; or use Ask the Sign to harass anyone. We can rate-limit, suspend or remove access to protect the Service or other people.

6. Third-party services

The Service works with services we don't control: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google) and Muse (Meta); Square, Shopify, Lightspeed and Google Merchant Center when an owner connects one; and phone and text-message carriers. Your use of them is under their terms, and they may change or stop working with Ask the Sign. We aren't responsible for them.

7. Ending

You can stop using the Service at any time. Owners can delete their places in the console. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we stop providing the Service; where practical we will give owners notice and time to export their data. Sections that by nature should continue (ownership, disclaimers, liability, disputes) survive.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT INFORMATION ABOUT ITEMS, STOCK, PRICES OR WHERE THINGS ARE IS CORRECT.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE OR DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND US$100. SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITS, SO PARTS OF THIS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. Business owners will indemnify Ask the Sign against third-party claims arising from data they provide or their breach of these terms.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you consent to that venue. Before filing a claim, please contact us at support@askthesign.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.

11. Changes and other terms

We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version. For material changes we will notify business owners by email. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept it. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the SMS terms are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. You may not transfer your rights without our consent.
